We went to the doctor today for Beckett's 6 month check-up. His measurements were:

Here he is showing off his new tooth. It was taken a few days ago- now the second one is starting to poke through.

Beckett is 6 months already! We just noticed his first tooth has broke through the gums- no wonder he was a little fussy last week. Beckett loves to walk (with assistance of course). He loves peek-a-boo, the song "The Wheels on the Bus" and shaking his head no. He is constantly stamping his left foot (it looks like he's dancing when he's standing), kicking, bouncing, rolling over, and grabbing everything in reach. He is very active and easily distracted- so feeding him is a huge challenge. As already mentioned everything is now a wrestling match and I'm sure it'll just get worse. He is still very alert taking everything in- he doesn't want to miss a thing. Sleeping is still a challenge. I finally got him to sleep without being swaddled. He's started to suck his thumb every once in awhile- if only he would use that to put himself to sleep. So far I think he likes rice cereal -but not sure how much he's actually getting. We've tried applesauce- and so far he's not into it. He's eyes are still changing colors on us- I think they'll be hazel like Dan's.
So for the past couple months Beckett has been really interested in what we are doing and wants to do it as well. Like when we're eating or drinking he freaks out, starts panting and anxiously grabs for whatever it is. He loves sucking on our cups especially. Here's a couple videos of it from about a month ago. The second video- I was bad and let him suck on my apple for a little bit. He cried when I took it away from him. I now have these cool contraption/ teether things, where you put the food in the net and you don't have to worry about choking on it.
I was filming it again today while he was in the ExerSaucer- he freaked out as soon as he saw me pick it up- he's not normally so wobbly in that thing- but it looks like he could get whiplash from reacting so quickly.
So for the past few months Beckett has been sleeping horribly during the night- worse than when he was a newborn- waking up every 1-3 hours. A few weeks ago he was doing a lot better- doing 4 hours- then 5, 6,7, and even 8 eight hours. He did really good for about a week. His naps also for a couple weeks were getting longer- instead of 45 minutes he'd do over an hour- sometimes even two! I was real excited about having a bigger chunk of time.
However the past two weeks he has digressed again and I'm not sure why. He's horrible to put to bed for naps or bedtime- he throws a fit- and even though he's tired and falling asleep- he gets mad and refuses. Instead of it taking me 5-10 minutes with a little fussing- it takes anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours to get him down. And after all that, he naps for 30 minutes. I'll put him down for bed and he wakes up 30 minutes later. I then try to put him back down for the next few hours.
I'm not sure why he's doing this all of a sudden- I've tried many things- but he gets so worked up that the only thing that will calm him after a few hours is nursing him. I try not to- because I don't want that to be the problem- I've tried the let him cry and come in and reassure him every so often- but nothing really has worked. I know they recommend not starting solids until 6 months but I was ready to try something else to see if that helps with his sleeping. He's only a couple weeks off. I was going to lose my mind if I had to keep doing this every day. Just the past couple days he's gotten better about some things- but tomorrow is another day. It seems to be hit or miss- I'm trying to make since of what is affecting his sleep. I don't really think solids is the answer- but we were ready to try him on it anyways. I still worry he doesn't get enough from me.
Beckett Trying out his new high chair.
Dan trying to get some of the rice cereal to stay in Beckett's mouth.
Beckett trying to figure out what to do with this big spoon. We need to get smaller ones for him.

Beckett playing with the bowl when we were all done. Of course it ended up being a game of "Oops, I dropped it again!"

At the beginning of the month Beckett started rolling over. The same day we had him laughing pretty hard for the first time. Since then he is constantly rolling and we hardly have heard him laugh. He smiles non-stop but with all our attempts we've only got a couple half chuckles. Now with his rolling over and constantly having to grab things, everything is a wrestling match. It makes feeding him and changing his diaper loads of fun.
Ward Christmas Party

Beckett was trying to remove Santa's disguise and show a little more of his face.

Christmas
This year for Christmas we decided just to stay in Rifle. Since we weren't going to be with anyone for Christmas we got our presents early- and opened them all when we got them. That was going to make for an uneventful Christmas- just us and no presents to open. Dan's parents decided to come down and visit us at the last minute- which we hadn't told them we already opened all their presents. But it was fun having visitors. We told my parents we opened all their gifts which they weren't thrilled about. But on Christmas a friend of mine brought a package of gifts over to us from my family. My mom hunted down a friend's information off the Internet and mailed them the package and told them not to tell me or give it to me until Christmas day.
